IUA Development & 2008 AGM, Softball Ireland Meeting & Softball Ireland Byelaws:

We recently met with Softball Ireland and all parties agreed to work closer together during the 2008 season. To this end a meeting is being arranged to talk with SI again later in the season. The IUA AGM is also being scheduled for just after the 2008 softball season and we'll be formally issuing notice of the meeting to all 2008 registered members in August/early September.

No specific agreement was reached regarding payment for tournaments, but there was agreement on increasing the per match fee to €35.00 and the Umpiring Assignments Contract from €1,250.00 to €1,400.00. There will a Service Level Agreement put in place between SI and the IUA and the payment of the Umpiring Assignments Contract will be in three payments across the season.

The agenda for the IUA AGM will include several outstanding items from the meeting that was held in February and scheduling a meeting with SI prior to our AGM will allow us to bring the SI Council view of umpiring and its development to our members at a General Meeting. One outstanding items was the lack of elections at our recent 2007 AGM, which didn't happen due to a serious time over run. IN light of this the existing Committee will remain in situ for the 2008 season and elections will be included in the AGM agenda as a priority.

Softball Ireland are reverting back to ASA rules of play for the 2008 season. Some IUA Committee members have supplied some personal feedback on the byelaws to the SI Co-ordinator and a copy of the final byelaws will be issued to our members before the season starts.

IUA Umpire Assignments Contract
The IUA are delighted to announce that Alan Lenehan has been awarded the Umpires Assignments contract. Alan successfully completed the assignments in 2006 & 2007 and we wish him every success again this year.

IUA Courses 2008:
